Active Ingredient Purity

What it means and why it matters for your supplements.

What is it?

Active ingredient purity measures whether the actual amount of each ingredient in the product matches what is printed on the label. If a label says "99% C8 Caprylic Acid", we test to verify the real number is at or above that claim.

Why does it matter?

Many supplements contain less active ingredient than advertised. Independent studies have found products with as little as 30-70% of the stated dose. Under-dosing means you are paying for ingredients you are not getting, and you may not experience the benefits you expect.

How we test

Every production batch is sent to an independent ISO 17025 accredited laboratory. The lab uses chromatography (HPLC or GC) to measure the exact concentration of each active ingredient. We publish the result as a percentage of the label claim.

  • 100%+ Meets or exceeds the label claim. This is the target for every batch.
  • 90-99% Slightly below claim. Within acceptable tolerance for most ingredients.
  • Below 90% Below acceptable range. The batch would be flagged and investigated.

How we score it

Active ingredient purity contributes 50 out of 100 points to our Quality Score. This is the largest component because getting the right dose is the most important thing a supplement can do. The closer to 100% of the label claim, the higher the score.

Our Testing Standards

All testing performed by ISO 17025 accredited laboratories. Results comply with California Prop 65 and EU EFSA standards.
